Welcome to My KC7NYR Amateur Radio Website. My name is Mark, KC7NYR. I am a Licensed Amateur Radio Operator. I was first licensed in 1994. During my working years tried to stay active on the air as much as possible. As you know, family, work and life had precedence. In 1996 I obtained my 7 call sign for Oregon.
I was originally licensed in Sacramento, California, I really didn’t like my call sign. I was moving my family north and we settled in Oregon. I obtained my current call sign, KC7NYR in 1996. When I arrived in Oregon I was Elmered by W7LRB, Lucky! He is a silent key now, a huge loss to the Amateur Radio community and to me personally. He educated me on Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), Incident Command System (ICS) and how to become a Net Control Station.
So in 1998 I started as a Net Control Station for the ARES District 1 Net here in Oregon. The previous D1 Net Manager, Bob, K0PB selected me to take his place and I became the ARES District 1 Net Manager in 1998. I only held this position until the work schedule didn’t allow. This is when I met Hal, KC7ZZB, what a great elmer and friend. Hal agreed to become the Assistant Net Manager. Hal is currently the District 1 Net Manager and I am the Assistant Net Manager. I have always served as a Net Control/Alternate Station for 24 years and love it!
I also serve as the District 1 Net Secretary, The Website Administrator and Alternate Net Control Station.
We are back working together as a team after 23 years, now that’s Amateur Radio! I am also the Net Manager for the Linux User Net which is every Monday from 8:10PM-9:00PM PST on the ARRG K7RPT repeater system, our linked frequencies are 147.320, 147.040, 442.325, 444.400, 444.125 with a PL tone of 100. Also the 146.72 megahertz repeater on Wickiup Mountain with a 114.8 hz tone.

Local Area Nets – Portland, Oregon
The ARES District 1 Net daily from 7:30pm-8:00pm on the K7RPT linked repeater system. The frequencies are 147.320, 147.040, 442.325, 444.400, 444.125 with a PL tone of 100. Also the 146.72 megahertz repeater on Wickiup Mountain with a 114.8 hz tone. We also have an alternate repeater on 146.84 megahertz. NTTN net meets daily at 6:05 p.m. The NTTN is an Amateur Radio Net to handle formal written traffic into and out of the state of Oregon. The Northwest Oregon Traffic and Training net is a affiliated with the Radio Relay International Traffic System. The net is sanctioned to meet on the linked repeaters of the Western Oregon Radio Club, Inc. Frequency, 145.27, 145.43, 146.80, 443.150 and 442.525 MHz repeaters, all having a pl tone of 107.2.
