The Amateur Radio Relay Group, Inc. (ARRG) is an Oregon Non-Profit 501C (3) public service organization. ARRG owns and operates the 18 different VHF and UHF repeaters that make up the K7RPT system. The repeaters provide communications coverage to about most of the populated areas of Oregon and some of SW Washington State.
ARRG was founded in 1977 and we are currently celebrating our 41st year of providing quality repeater service to the Amateur Radio Community. The K7RPT repeaters, IRLP and Echo link gateways have always been ‘open’ and completely free to use, so long as you are a licensed Amateur Radio Operator and agree to follow our Repeater Use Policies. After you’ve enjoyed the use of the system for a few months, please consider helping to maintain the repeater system by joining ARRG.
The K7RPT system and/or site facilities are made available to many State, County and City based Emergency Service Organization and Response Teams. Groups that don’t already own or operate their own repeater systems or who need specialized coverage, all use the K7RPT repeaters freely and without any cost. Groups like the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) group, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Washington County Search & Rescue, Portland Mountain Rescue, Mountain Wave Search & Rescue and many other Neighborhood Emergency Response Teams call the K7RPT system home.
When the repeaters are not being used for an Emergency or for training purposes, any licensed Ham Operator is encouraged to use and enjoy the K7RPT repeaters.
ARRG believes in ‘Public Service through Technology’ and we operate three Worldwide Internet connected EchoLink VOIP nodes, 1 IRLP VOIP node. We also own and operate an APRS Digi at Government Camp – Mt. Hood and the new South Saddle APRS Digi.. ARRG was chosen by Yaesu to be one of the few groups to be an official ‘beta tester’ of the new System Fusion FM/Digital system.
The 442.225 at Sylvan are Portland’s main System Fusion repeaters. ARRG was chosen by Yaesu to be one of the few groups to be an official ‘beta tester’ of the new System Fusion FM/Digital system.
ARRG also provides a Radio Team for special events and that includes providing portable repeaters, dispatch gear and volunteers for events like the annual Hood to Coast and Portland to Coast Relay, Reach the Beach, Cycle for Life ride, Race for the Cure and occasionally for the Portland Marathon.
